About the Project
One of two projects funding the development of digital Nsyilxcn language textbooks to support students in the UBC Okanagan Bachelor of Nsyilxcn Language Fluency Program, this project seeks to create essential resources that fill a critical gap in our existing Nsyilxcn language pedagogical resources. This project enables the creation of a textbook to support NSYL 331, “Language Practice And Pedagogy: Praxis in Different Immersion Contexts,” a language immersive course geared towards increasing individual students’ fluency through interacting with video recordings of fluent elders in conversation or story-telling, the exploration of grammar as expressed through fluent elder speech and explicit grammar instruction built from culturally relevant language resources.
